![]() ![]() Reading what Hilde Mosse wrote about comic books adds to a more complete understanding of the research that Wertham reported on in Seduction of the Innocent. ![]() Mosse, her many published comments about comic books, and even her name, have been almost entirely missing from histories of the anti-comic book crusade. The story of Wertham’s research collaborator Hilde L. Wertham emphasized throughout Seduction of the Innocent that a collaborative effort had been responsible for its findings. This and other evidence suggests that Mosse was the most important member of Wertham’s research team after Wertham himself. ![]() Mosse, a member of “the indefatigable and unselfish staff” of the Lafargue Clinic (Wertham 1954:vii).
